Today it is the professional holiday of Russian librarians. We congratulate our colleagues and all those involved in this profession!
On May 27, 1795 the first state public library of Russia – the Imperial Public Library, was founded, now it is the Russian National Library. That is why on this day in 1995 the All-Russian Library Day was established by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation.
Although in the modern world there is no longer a great need to get books exactly in the library, these institutions remain important cultural centres where various events are held including for young people.
In our e-library there are documents that show different forms of interaction between libraries and youth. The most relevant is the "Methodological Guide on priority areas of organization of working with youth" from the Utkin Irkutsk Regional Youth Library.
The peculiarity of this publication is that it regards the library as a tool for the implementation of youth policy.
In the publication you will find statistical indicators of youth work, the main areas of work including the development of volunteering, support for young families, young entrepreneurs, talented youth, etc.
As examples, the projects already in progress not only at the Regional Youth Library, but also at other libraries in the Irkutsk Region and neighbouring Regions are presented.
