The holiday has been established by the UN General Assembly and is celebrated annually.

The history of the holiday begins in 1999, when the Resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly No A/RES 54/120 ("Policies and programmes relating to youth") was issued. The General Assembly supported the recommendation of the World Conference of Ministers of Youth Affairs, which was held in Lisbon in 1998, to proclaim August 12 as the International Youth Day. You can find the documents on the International Youth Day in the corresponding collection of our library.
Every year the holiday is dedicated to a certain topic. This year it is Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World.
"Green skills" means the knowledge, abilities, values and attitudes necessary for living in a sustainable and resource-saving society, its development and support.
It is assumed that the successful transition to a "green world" will depend on the development of "green skills" among the population.
Today we would like to present you a selection of publications on the environmental topic:
2) Climate landscape analysis for children in Armenia
4) Regulation in the All-Russian competition of young environmental researchers "Discoveries 2030"
