The holiday was established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) together with the International Labour Organization (ILO). Every year the celebration of this day is dedicated to a specific topic. In 2023 it is "The Teachers We Need for Education We Want: The Global Imperative to Reverse the Teacher Shortage". The global upheavals that have occurred over the past few years have had a significant impact on the development of the education system.

For example, the COVID-19 pandemic has become one of the global challenges. Teachers were forced to adapt to a new form of the educational process – distance learning – and to the changed reality.

On the World Teachers’ Day we would like to present you the collection on the topic of distance education. The documents of this collection consider the practice of switching to distance learning, its impact on general education in the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The empirical foundation of the study was the results of sociological surveys.

Collection.
