Within the rubric "Cases of successful practices" we would like to tell you about a voluntary student association that was created at the Department of Social Work and Social Security at the Higher School of Economics, Management and Law of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov.
The Student Coffee House is a discussion club for specialists in the social sphere. The club is a uniting platform for students of the Department of Social Work and Social Security, but it is also open to students of other specialties. The curator of the club from the department is an associate professor Anna Fedulova, and the head is a graduate student Viktor Obukhovsky.
The club uses different formats of events: from game meetings, commemorative evenings, round tables to scientific conferences and online meetups, foresights, seminars, master classes with specialists, etc.
Today the Student Coffee House is a unique and recognizable brand with a corporate style and philosophy. The club has an exclusive permanent membership system.
The motto "Thinking is delicious" expresses the concept of the club. The gist of the slogan is that thinking is delicious for the brain. As you know, coffee/tea stimulates brain activity. That is why most of the club's events are held in a separate auditorium in the format of coffee/tea drinking from their personal cups and mugs. The organizers emphasize that this creates a trusting, cozy atmosphere.
