On this day in 1997 the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan signed an order according to which the 2nd February was declared the National Youth Day of Azerbaijan.
The decision to establish such a holiday is associated with the holding of the 1st Azerbaijani Youth Forum a year earlier. At the Forum the responsibilities facing state bodies, youth organizations and young people were determined. More than 2 thousand representatives of youth organizations from all regions of the Republic took part in the event. The forum significantly facilitated the revival of the work carried out with youth in Azerbaijan.
In 2002 the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 997-IIQ of April 9, 2002 "On youth policy" was adopted. It contains the goals and principles of youth policy, the tasks of the state in the field of its implementation, its main directions. 1) Areas such as youth policy, physical culture and sports are coordinated by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan established in 1994. Subsequently, the structure of the department changed several times.
2) In order to ensure the active participation of Azerbaijani youth in the socio-political, economic and cultural life of the country 2007 was declared "The Year of Youth". He contributed to the solution of social problems in the country and improvements in the field of protection of rights.
3) You can learn about the development of youth policy in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2011-2015 from the relevant program. It describes the creation of conditions for the active participation of young people in the field of management, ensuring the solution of employment problems and other socio-economic problems of young professionals.
4) The situation in the field of youth policy in Azerbaijan is reflected in the 2015-2025 Youth Development Strategy. It provides statistics on topics such as demographics, educational attainment and economic activity. Target groups and expected results are also listed.
5) An intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of youth policy has been signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation. It outlines the areas of interaction. The joint working group for cooperation in the field of youth policy has been created.
