The date of the annual holiday was chosen in honor of the anniversary of the founding of the Committee on Youth, Sports and Tourism under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Each year the celebration is preceded by Youth Week, in which various events are held, supported by the Committee. Such events include sports competitions, contests, creative evenings, etc.

On the Youth Day itself celebrations are organized in different cities of Tajikistan. For example, in the capital of the country, Dushanbe, youth processions are regularly held in honor of the holiday, in which thousands of people take part.

The holiday is also an opportunity to summarize the annual results of the implementation of youth policy in the country and determine the further strategy of its development.
