The 20th meeting of the Youth Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States

17.03.2023

Today St. Petersburg has hosted the annual meeting of the Youth Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States. It was dedicated to the issues of preserving and developing Russian as the language of interethnic communication. The e-library "Youth of the CIS" and the issue of developing a glossary of terms in the field of youth policy in the CIS were presented at the meeting.

The choice of the topic of the meeting was determined by the fact that 2023 was declared the Year of the Russian Language as the Language of Interethnic Communication in the Commonwealth of Independent States

The meeting was attended by young parliamentarians of IPA of the CIS Member States along with representatives of regional and local legislative authorities, leaders of youth parliaments, public organizations and associations.

Artem Turenko, the head of the e-library, introduced the e-library project. The IPA CIS agreed that members of youth parliamentary delegations will facilitate dissemination of information concerning the project among youth organizations and representatives of state authorities implementing youth policy in the CIS Member States.

The Institute of Youth Policy and International Relations of RTU MIREA also came up with an initiative on developing glossary of terms in the field of youth policy in the CIS. Acting Director of IYPIR of RTU MIREA Dmitriy Bunkin introduced the report. This proposal was supported by the IPA CIS during the meeting.

Following the results of the meeting the IPA CIS Standing Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights will consider the possibility of including the project glossary in the Prospective Plan of model lawmaking in the CIS for 2023-2025.
