Results of the year: address of the head of the e-library "Youth of the CIS"

30.12.2022

The year 2022 is smoothly coming to an end. The outgoing year was very fruitful for the electronic library. Our main goal was to attract as many readers and the attention of the target audience as possible to our unique international project in the CIS space that accumulates sources in the field of youth policy issued in the Commonwealth countries. We have implemented many plans and ideas.

However, we encountered certain difficulties primarily due to the fragmentation of our audience. We tried to select and offer interesting materials for all the target groups which include youth workers, representatives of public associations and organizations implementing youth policy, researchers involved in research on youth issues, etc. Our content was diverse. The e-library weekly presented new documents in digests, stated important books on youth work and youth policy, issued collections of publications timed to holidays and memorable dates.

One of the vectors of the e-library's development was its promotion in the media space. A community on Vkontakte and a channel in Telegram were launched. We shared relevant information about youth of the CIS there. We have room to grow, but we can already say with confidence that the library is becoming an increasingly popular information resource.

Separately, I would like to note the results of our analytical work. The e-library has released seven references on various topics: from the study of regional legislative acts of the Russian Federation in the field of youth policy to the scout and student brigades' movements in the CIS. We used a holistic approach to the analysis of problems in the field of youth work in the Commonwealth and, if possible, considered certain phenomena in all the CIS countries. During writing information- analytical materials we relied on the experience of our colleagues and partners. For example, when preparing a note on the Sustainable Development Goals Youth Ambassadors in the CIS, the National Youth Council of Russia provided advice.

In the past year we tried to tell as much as possible about our project at major events. In October the e-library was presented at the X Forum of Young Librarians of Russia, one of the organizers of which was our long-term partner the Russian State Library for Young Adults. In November we stated the current activities of the library at the Russian-Tajik Youth Forum and in December – at the Forum of Young Scientists of the CIS Member States. We also did not forget to participate in thematic competitions such as the Competition of the best projects in the field of supporting the Russian language in the CIS and the All-Russian competition "Libraries. Promotion".  Unfortunately, we did not manage to take prizes, but we gained valuable experience.

I thank every reader for their interest in our project as well as our partners contributed to the fact that the project reached a new level. Together we can achieve even more in the coming year. In 2023 the e-library will also delight you with useful content in the field of youth work in the Commonwealth space. We always have something to strive for!

I wish you professional victories and achievements, festive mood and new achievements!

Happy upcoming New Year!

Artem Turenko,

head of the e-library
