Applications are being accepted for the All-Russian competition in the field of librarianship "The 2022 Librarian of the Year"

The competition is organized by the National Library of Russia with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and Saint Petersburg State Institute of Culture.

The competition has been held for 9 years. It is aimed at identifying the leaders of professional skills, maintaining high standards of the library industry, encouraging young professionals, promoting socially significant library and information projects, exchanging experience and widely introducing innovations in library services to the population of the country.

- “The 2022 Librarian of the Year” (main nomination),

- “The 2022 Best Young Librarian of the Year” (additional nomination for specialists under the age of 35),

- “The library of the future – the view of young people” (nominations for students),

- “My choice is the library!” (nomination for students of educational organizations of vocational education: specialized schools, technical schools, colleges).  

Several additional awards are also introduced this year:

- the special award of the Russian State Library “The best librarian of the new generation” (for specialists of model libraries of the new generation),

- the special award of the Russian State Library “The best librarian-methodologist” (for librarians engaged in scientific and methodological activities),

- the special award of the Russian State Library “The best children’s librarian” (for specialists of libraries serving children),

- the special award of the Russian State Library for the blind “The best typhlolibrarian”.

Employees of public libraries of Russia with at least two years of work experience as well as full-time students qualifying in the areas of training «Library and information activity» (Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs) and the specialty «Library Science» (secondary vocational education program) can participate.
