16.05.2024

Alina Beis, a 1st year student of the direction "Organization of youth work", talks about her studies at the department.

1)    What attracted you to the OYW (Organization of Youth Work) referral for admission?

Since my school days, I have been an active person, participated in many events, and was a member of various movements and detachments. When the question of admission arose in the 11th grade, I began to look at different directions on university websites and came across the "Organization of youth work". I studied the disciplines that take place within this area, and they interested me very much. I realized that working with young people is exactly what I want to connect my professional life with.

2)    How did the adaptation of the freshmen go?

Since we are all humanitarians and have chosen such an "active" direction, from the very beginning there was a lot of communication in the group. We tried to attend events together and maintain a friendly atmosphere. Of course, not all the guys immediately opened up, but over time they joined the team.

3)    Do first-year students study the discipline of "Introduction to the profession"? If so, what is going on within it?

Yes, we had the discipline "Introduction to the profession". At it we studied youth, its specifics, in which areas youth work takes place, studied the professional standard of a specialist in youth work and much more that really interests a freshman in this field.

4)    What events for young people have you already managed to participate in as a volunteer?

Already in the first month of my studies I have managed to volunteer at the All-Russian Media 360 Forum, organized by the guys of our university. We had a lot of functionality – meeting participants at the airport, accompanying groups to educational sites, accompanying them to field events, regulating work in the dining room. At this event the volunteers were constantly on the move. It was a good experience for me. I also gained a lot of experience from participating in the World Youth Festival in Sochi. I talked to a lot of persons from other regions of Russia and from other countries on it. It was interesting to find out how youth policy is implemented in other regions of our country, how foreign citizens look at the organization of this event. It was a pleasure to establish contacts with young people from different parts of the world and find common ground.
