The cities were determined based on the results of the popular vote ended on December 21. Sergey Kirienko, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, announced the youth capitals of Russia in 2025.
Perm is one of the largest cities in the Urals, and Omsk is a city of one million people in Western Siberia.
Novy Urengoy was also chosen as the Small Youth Capital of Russia. The city is a world-famous centre of gas production in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District.
This year the youth capitals were Moscow and Vladivostok.
For the first time the nomination "Minister of Youth" was introduced. The winner was announced by Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister, it was Victoria Ariarti, Minister of Youth Affairs of the Kamchatka Region.
The CIS has a similar project. In 2021 the Interstate Program "Youth capital of the CIS" was created. On May 22, 2022 it was approved by the Council of the Council of Heads of Governments of the CIS.
The program "Youth capital of the CIS" is aimed at developing youth infrastructure, youth volunteer movement and tourism, expanding the participation of young people in the public and socio-economic life of cities.
