Department of Social Work and Social Security of NarFU
About the organization
The Department of Social Work established on November 18, 1997 at the Faculty of Social Work of the Lomonosov Pomeranian State University was one of the first in the Russian Federation to begin training a specialist in social work.
In 2007 a new specialty "Organization of youth work" was opened at the department and the first set of students was carried out. 14 students were enrolled in the first year. The faculty was the first in the region to train specialists in this field.
In 2009 a Master's degree in the field of "Social work with various groups of the population" was opened.
The topic of the department's research work is "Social work and youth potential development as a resource for social security and overcoming social risks".
When preparing students, great attention is paid to obtaining practical skills. Students enter the practice bases in each course. In total, they spend about 20 weeks in practice in municipal and public institutions and organizations providing social assistance to various groups of the population.
