The author uses materials from studies of the life paths of school graduates in the Novosibirsk Region in the period from 1998 to 2008 and examines how an increase in educational resources affects the accumulation of human capital, social status and self-esteem of young people. The conclusion is an increase in the level of education is accompanied by the ascent of youth through the levels of socio-professional status.
