Annotation
Approaches to the study of children's reading from the perspective of gender socialization will be shown. Girls' reading and boys' reading have serious differences, it is caused by a number of factors. The peculiarities of reading of girls and boys of primary and secondary school age are given using data of sociological researches conducted in the last decade by sociologists of the Russian State Children's Library.
