The national report presents Moldova's results in housing and sustainable urban development over 20 years. Initially, the Republic of Moldova approved in 1996 the National Action Plan and participated in the UN Conference Habitat II. These actions were aimed at joining the global effort that aims to achieve the goals of the Habitat agenda: "Proper shelter for all" and "Sustainable human settlements development in the urban world". The national report states that the new legislative framework has been created in the republic in the field of housing and the development of settlements. The foundation was laid for urban and territorial planning based on the expanded competencies of local authorities and on meeting the real needs of communities. It was also noted that the concept of ensuring territorial interaction through balanced regional development is being promoted.
