Annotation

The document is advisory in nature. Based on these guidelines, the United Nations (UN) Secretariat together with interested agencies is expected to be actively involved in conducting research as well as scientific cooperation developing policy options and monitoring their implementation. It is also expected that through the document the UN Secretariat should serve as the source of reliable information on effective ways to prevent juvenile delinquency. The document states aspects of the guidelines such as fundamental principles, scope, general directions for prevention, processes for preparing for life in the society, research and policy development, coordination.
