Departments of Organization of Youth Work: Department of Social and Youth Policy (AltSU)

Today, as part of the section in which we introduce you to the departments of the OYW, we tell you about our partners from Altai State University.

The Department of Social and Youth Policy is a young institution. It was established on September 1, 2021. It was formed by merging two departments: Psychology of Communication and Psychotechnology and Social Work. The Department was the first in Siberia to begin training professional specialists in the field of social work. At the moment it is part of the Institute of Humanities.

The following areas are being implemented at the Department:

Bachelor's degree:

39.03.02 Social work.

39.03.03 Organization of youth work.

Master's degree:

39.04.01. Sociology: "Digital methods of data analysis and visualization in social research

" (full-time).

39.04.01. Social work: "Organization and management in social work" (extramural form).

The Department also trains highly qualified personnel in the field of Sociology, in the scientific specialty 5.4.4 "Social structure, social institutions and processes".

Tutors actively participate in various projects aimed at the intellectual and professional development of young people, their positive creativity and activism. You can read more about these projects at the links:

These projects are aimed at supporting the ideas and initiatives of young people, creating positive images of Russia and its regions, developing ethnic cultures, forming civic identity and patriotism.

Students are actively involved in scientific research, opinion polls, conferences, forums as well as as volunteers to work with various vulnerable categories: with children with special needs, including with severe mental disorders, with adolescents in conflict with the law, the elderly, etc.

1st year student of OYW Alina talks about her extracurricular activities in this way:

"Already in the first month of my studies I have managed to volunteer at the All-Russian Media 360 Forum, organized by the guys of our university. We had a lot of functionality – meeting participants at the airport, accompanying groups to educational sites, accompanying them to field events, regulating work in the dining room. At this event the volunteers were constantly on the move. It was a good experience for me."
